Streetstyle Diary from PFW FW25: Alaïa, Tom Ford and Miu Miu

Paris Fashion Week is never just about the runway — the streetstyle is always just as exciting. Here’s a look at my experience capturing streetstyle for Maison Alaïa, Tom Ford and Miu Miu.

Alaïa

This was my first streetstyle shoot of the season, and the experience was… claustrophobic, to say the least. Even Tom Ford was better. If I separate the experience from its context, I’d seriously start to wonder — god, why do we photographers even do this? If someone had told me a couple of years ago that this would bring me so much joy, I wouldn’t have believed it.

So let’s talk about it, and I promise this won’t take long. There were only two small sections of the sidewalk — about two meters long each — available for fans and photographers. They formed a narrow corridor for guests to walk through, maybe 2.5 meters wide at best. I was stuck in the second row, and of course, the biggest, widest guys with huge softboxes were working right in front of me. C’est la vie. But I still managed to get something. Or someone.

Tom Ford

I accidentally arrived an hour in advance for this show and my back was not content about standing for so long after another two gigs done the same day. Coming so early, there was no chance left for the first row. Thank god I’m 175 cm — otherwise, I’d seriously consider buying one of those cute folding plastic stools that photographers carry on their backpacks like a lucky charm.

Miu Miu

It seems quite a few people are questioning whether Miu Miu is worth the hype and why it is so popular with Gen Z. If you are one of them, please visit Place d’Iena before the show. This brand is serious about streetstyle. The location for the show is superior — so much space and options for the backdrop, a photographer’s dream. No more claustrophobia. So many cute nicely styled influencers. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Imagine the streetstyle content tornado happening days after the show.

Anyway, I wasn’t super focused on getting the best shots — I mostly came to hang out with friends. But I still caught some cute looks. Enjoy!

For those of us chasing that perfect shot, streetstyle is about navigating the madness with a little bit of patience and a lot of persistence. As for me, I'll take the good with the bad - after all, it’s all part of the fashion week experience. See you at the next one!
